In my work as an auriculotherapist, auriculomedicinist, and posturologist, I find that there are points I return to again and again.
Sometimes only for periods, and other times they remain interesting. One could call them favorite points, or more accurately, favorite zones, because our interest lies in a zone, within which we then find a point. But let's stick to points, as that is the commonly used term.
Why is the jaw interesting?
“When we work with the jaw, it releases blockages”Treating the jaw is something that interests me greatly, probably especially because the jaw has such a significant influence on our well-being in so many different directions, both when it comes to – pain, fertility and hormonal imbalances in general, breathing – both in terms of lung function and the way we breathe, the adrenal gland, digestion, posture, vision, and of course our psyche and emotions.
When we work with the jaw, it releases blockages, which we also know as Therapy Obstacles. The jaw itself is not a posturological entry, but it is known to create problems for posturological entries.
So what is so interesting about the jaw?! Humans have a reflex, an instinct that makes us clench our jaws tightly when we are stressed, or when we are psychologically pressured, and unfortunately, many people walk around feeling this way.
Several ways to treat the jaw
There are several jaw points in the ear, and I divide them into Posturological and AuriculoTherapeutic jaw points. When I work Posturologically, and here it might be worth noting that Posturology may be based on posture, but it is far from the only thing relevant to treat with Posturology. Posturology is a way to diagnose imbalances by understanding and interpreting the body's posture.
The 4 posturological jaw points are located near Cervical vertebra 2 (C2), sometimes just above, sometimes just below; remember that everything is zones and not points. The point is located on the outside of the anthelix edge, not down in the scaphoid fossa, but up on the side, in the cartilage itself. It is said that along the outside of the anthelix edge, the muscles along the spine are treated, but I would argue that it is better treated in phase 4 (the back of the ear), and that here we are actually treating joints and tendons to a greater extent. This means we are treating the temporomandibular joint here.
The four phases
By locating the spine in the 4 phases in the ear, we can easily find the last 3 Posturological jaw points – phase 2 on the ascending helix rim, phase 3 the zone in front of the tragus towards the helix rim, and on the back of the ear in phase 4 (posterior anthelix fossa).
The AuriculoTherapeutic jaw point, also called the Tooth Point or TMJ point (Temporomandibular Joint), is located on the Lobus, at the end of the fold between the helix and scaphoid fold. Curiously, the Tooth Point in phase 2 and 3 is located in the same place as the Posturological jaw point, i.e., on the spine at C2.
Remember that to find out which points are relevant to treat, you should use VAS or a point finder. You can use an electrical point finder, such as the Agiscope or a Premio20 – see AcupunctureShop's HERE. If you are searching with frequencies, you will use A-30 when searching for posturological points and F+30 when it is more psyche-emotionally related.
