Guide to cleaning and disinfection of cups from cupping sets

Guide til rengøring samt desinfektion af kopper fra cuppingsæt

Why cleaning and disinfection are important
Today, there are many different types of cups, in many different materials, but common to all of them is that they must be cleaned and disinfected. This is done to minimize bacterial growth and bacterial transfer to an absolute minimum. We have therefore prepared this step-by-step guide for you on how to best clean and disinfect your cups.

Soak the cups
If your cups are washed immediately after use, this step is not necessary. However, if your cups cannot be
washed immediately, then place them in a tub with water and soap/detergent until cleaning and disinfection are possible. It is important to separate any loose parts from the cups when soaking them.

Cleaning and rinsing
During cleaning, the water from step 1 should be changed to clean water and soap/detergent. Then gently scrub the cups and loose parts repeatedly with a sponge until all lubricant and organic material are gone. It is important to rinse all loose parts and cups thoroughly with clean water to remove soap residues and thus prevent staining.

Drying
Ensure there are no large amounts of excess water. Drying cups and loose parts prevents the growth of microorganisms, so it is important that everything is completely dry before the disinfection process begins.

Disinfection method – WipeClean

Check that the cups and loose parts are completely dry before starting this process. If everything is completely dry, the loose parts are assembled and attached to the corresponding cups.

NOTE: Remember to read the data sheet and use correct personal protective equipment in connection with the use of disinfectants, e.g., gloves.

Put on gloves before starting disinfection. Then open the package of WipeClean Ethanol Disinfection 80% wipes and use the desired number of WipeClean wipes. To ensure disinfection, the individual cups and loose parts must remain moist for more than 1 minute. If the cups and loose parts dry, they must be wiped again with a new WipeClean wipe.

When using WipeClean, the cups and loose parts should NOT be rinsed with water afterwards.

Replacement of cups and cupping sets
Regular cleaning and disinfection will lead to wear and tear of the cups, which can reduce their performance. It may therefore be a good idea and a necessity to replace them at regular intervals.
