How do you choose the right massage table? This is a question many of our customers have asked themselves over time. We want to offer our experience and help you along the way, and here you'll find a short guide to the most important things to consider before buying a massage table.
Especially if it's your first table, it can seem like a jungle with the many functions, sizes, and brands available.
Use our little guide to find out what your needs are.
» 1 What will you use your massage table for?
The first question, of course, is what the table will be used for. Do you offer full-body massage, acupuncture, physiotherapy, or something else entirely?
Different treatment forms require different working postures and table designs. For example, we recommend a narrow massage table with a firm lying surface if you perform manual treatments, such as massage, chiropractic, or physiotherapy.
If, on the other hand, you need a massage table for wellness/wellness massage, acupuncture treatments, or reflexology, we recommend choosing a wider table with softer comfort.
» 2 Portable or stationary massage table
Generally, massage tables can be divided into 2 types: portable massage tables and electric massage tables. Some also choose a hydraulic massage table, but the functions of these are so similar to those of electric tables that you can use the guide for both.
Choose a portable table if you:
» Provide treatments on-site
» Need a foldable massage table so you can easily set it up and put it away as needed
» Are a new therapist and want to get your business going before buying an expensive electric table
Choose an electric massage table if you:
» Are a full-time therapist – your back and muscles will thank you!
» Need to be able to position your patient in several different ways
» Perform manual treatments where you need a stable surface.
Of course, there are several factors that are crucial to your choice, and some therapists choose to have both a portable and an electric massage table.
» 3 Size and appearance
The next thing to consider is the size of the table. The width and length of the massage bed are two important measurements. Do you expect clients who require a wider table, or do you want a narrow model to achieve a better working posture and get closer to the client?
Appearance is very individual. Some therapists prefer a classic, clinical design, while other therapists want a treatment room with calmer colors. A general rule of thumb, however, is that you should always match the table with the rest of the decor of your treatment room.
» 4 Price and quality
Price and quality are often linked, and it's clear that a portable massage table for a couple of thousand kroner cannot be compared to, for example, an electric massage table – that's not to say that a portable massage table is of poor quality.
It's clear that the more specific your needs are, the more the price of the massage table will be affected, but we are absolutely sure that we can offer you a really good massage table at a competitive price.
