Originating in Europe in the 1970s, Manual Lymphatic Drainage ("MLD") has since become a primary decongestive treatment for edema, and especially for lymphedema, which was untreatable before then. Over the years, the treatment and management of lymphedema has evolved to include other decongestive measures, such as compression therapy, exercise therapy, and skin care management – leading to the development of Complex or Combined Decongestive Physiotherapy ("CDPT"). For many, Lymphatic Taping must be considered the 5th pillar of CDPT.

The author, Josya Sijmonsma, is a Dutch physical therapist who has been intensively involved in the lymphatic taping technique since its beginnings in Europe over 30 years ago. This book reflects the enormous wealth of experience the author has gained in the field. In addition to the instructive illustrations for a wide range of indications, the book also covers the theoretical background of lymphatic taping in a concise and easy-to-understand format. This book explains the taping technique using anatomical-physiological and also pathophysiological explanatory models in a way that trained lymph therapists will easily understand.

The many case descriptions make this book an important reference work for practitioners.
